Dulcie Allan

Job Title:
Lead Youth Adviser & Volunteer Coordinator

Career overview:

I was a riding instructor at Sparsholt College for 3 years and I then worked in schools as a cover supervisor.

After this I decided that I would like to work in careers and particularly with offenders. I worked as a careers adviser in a male B category holding prison in the Midlands alongside doing my post grad diploma in Career Development and Coaching Studies.

Alongside my work in this country I have worked in the USA, Australia and New Zealand.

What do you do at IYC?

I am a Youth Adviser at It’s Your Choice.

As part of my role I manage a team of volunteer youth advisers as well as dealing with young people myself. I also work on a number of projects including our Future All NEET project and support young people at our drop-in sessions.

What attracted you to working at IYC?

I like working with people in need and helping them to progress and make the best of their selves, by imparting my knowledge and experience to especially help young people move forward positively.

What do you do outside of work?

I am a keen horse rider who has spent a large majority of my career in the equine industry, however now horses are just a hobby for me.

I enjoy reading fiction, especially horrors and thrillers. I have a keen interest in travel and have been fortunate in the past to spend a lot of time visiting many different countries.

I love music and as my husband is a vinyl records DJ we have a vast collection of vinyl records that we keep adding to.
