New Forest Homesearch Homesearch is the only route in to permanent Council accommodation in the New Forest and may be completed by anyone over the age of 16 years old. The average wait to be housed is between 2 - 10 years and there are currently 4000 households waiting to be housed with only 200 - 300 properties being available each year. To apply for Homesearch you will need to complete an application form, which can be done at the same time as registering as homeless. Once NFDC has received and processed your application you will receive a letter containing you unique reference number and your priority rank. You will need to use your reference number to apply for vacant properties that are advertised every Tuesday afternoon at the local council offices, via the internet or by phone. The council will contact you if you are successful. If your contact details or personal circumstances change whilst you are on the Homesearch waiting list you should advise the council as soon as possible as this may affect your application
