Everybody needs to eat to live - food is a very important part of people's lives. People like different foods and need different amounts of food. Body fat is stored in different places in our bodies' due to our genes. It is very important to have a healthy body weight and some body fat to keep our bodies working.

Eating disorders are more than just going on a diet to lose weight or trying to make sure you exercise every day. They're extremes in eating behaviour - the diet that never ends and gradually gets more restrictive

Its good to want to be a healthy weight as it means our bodies can work well but sometimes what you think about food can get muddled up with what you think and feel about yourself. If things are going wrong in your life sometimes it can go wrong in how you treat your body.

Some reasons why people get eating problems can include feeling out of control in other parts of your life yet your body is the only thing you feel you can control, wanting to be popular and to do be this you feel you need to be slim and therefore more attractive. Wanting to be like other people for example, models in the magazines you read, pop stars and film stars.
