STRESS AND ANXIETY
Anxiety is the feeling we get when our body responds to a frightening or threatening experience. It's your body preparing to either fight danger or run away from it. Anxiety is something that we all experience from time to time as it is a normal response to situations that we see as threatening towards us. The purpose of the physical symptoms is to prepare your body to cope with the threat. When you realise that there is nothing to the afraid of or threatened by, those feelings go away.
There are many reasons why you can become anxious. Some people may have may have an anxious personality, others may have had series of stressful events to try and cope with, for example divorce or bereavements. Others may be under a lot of pressure from home or work.
Life can be very stressful nowadays, and therefore pressures of everyday life can build up. Although we can't control the stress that comes from outside, we can find ways to help reduce the pressure we put on ourselves.
